Just a reminder about conditioner…

Conditioner is a chemical added to your pool on an “as needed” basis. We test for it every other week. Conditioner bonds with chlorine to keep chlorine in the pool. Otherwise, chlorine would revert to its gas form and evaporate into the air shortly after it is added to the pool. It is essential in keeping your pool balanced. Conditioner itself does not evaporate, but stays in the water. You lose conditioner only as you lose water, as in backwashing, splashing, spill over. etc.

Because of the drought, ignoring your pool this winter and trying to get it back in shape this spring may be a big headache and very expensive. The fallback option of draining and refilling a green and messy pool may not be available this spring if water restrictions continue or tighten. Trying to clear a pool chemically is time consuming and costly. Adding large amounts of algaecide may make the pool look better, but compound the problems in the long run. Don’t abandon your pool now; an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure.
