Is your pool water scaring you this Halloween?

October 28, 2010

Are you looking at green water in your pool? If you have struggled keeping the water clear this summer even with good filtration and chemicals, it may be that your water is too complex. Since your pool is a closed system, over time the water accumulates minerals and microscopic particles which interfere with the effectiveness of sanitizing chemicals. It may be time to check the total dissolved solids in your pool. Call for a free tds test if you think this could be you.

Your pool called…it’s thirsty

October 19, 2010

Even though your pool water is not evaporating as quickly as it does in the summer, you still need to check the water level. Low water is a big cause of equipment running dry. This leads to the motor burning out. This is usually not covered by a manufacturer’s warranty, so the cost of repair is up to the pool owner. Head off this problem by keeping the water level half way up into the skimmers.

Use of Heaters Heats Up.

October 12, 2010

Now that the season has arrived where we get to use our pool heaters, make sure you check your heater out before you start it up. Ants may have used it as their home during the summer. Lots of other animals like to nest in heaters, too. Water may have caused corrosion. Be safe–check your heater for signs of animal nests, nibbled wiring, or rust from water. If you find something suspect, call our repair tech here at Pool Chlor before you fire up the heater. Don’t take chances.

EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE PROGRAMS

October 1, 2010

Now that the swimming season has slowed down, you should check your filter and equipment for any routine maintenance needs. Don’t let your filter run “dirty” all winter and hope that it will be ready to go to work again next Spring. Also, equipment that is in need of repair will only get worse over the winter. Take care of these problems the easy way–call Pool Chlor and sign up for our Equipment Maintenance Program or our Automatic Filter Cleaning Program. We will call you to remind you what needs to be done and then we will do it. Call to get details 972-271-7079
